*Those of you who received broccoli this week, will get snap peas next week and vice versa. The peas will be coming full force by next week!

CUTTING GARDEN: You may cut some sprigs of any of the perennial herbs as well as parsley. The herbs are in the middle of the field past the big black mat and the stand of raspberries. (Follow the arrows). Don't forget your snips! We have chives, oregano, sage, lemon balm and thyme in the perennial beds. **We are going to have to cut the perennial herbs soon as they are beginning to flower and will need rejuvenation, so cut a lot!**

Today's Harvest:

Full Shares —
5 oz mesclun*
8 oz braising greens*
bunch salad turnip**
bunch kale
bunch garlic scapes#
1-2 heads lettuce
cutting garden (see below)

Small Shares —
4 oz mesclun*
4 oz braising greens*
small bunch salad turnip
bunch kale
small bunch garlic scapes#
cutting garden (see below)

*Both the mesclun and the braising greens can be eaten raw or braised. To distinguish, the braising mix has more large rounded leaves in it, while the mesclun has more jagged leaves. Both mixes contain various mustards, arugula, kale and Asian greens. We tried a new mix this year and thought it was dominated by a few particular varieties so we're going to amend that next sowing.

**Salad turnips can be sliced thin and eaten raw like a radish, or sautéed. They are very nice sautéed with butter!

#Garlic scapes can be used like garlic, though have milder flavor. They are delicious sautéed with greens.

Today's Harvest

This is the first week of the 2014 CSA harvests! Please see the previously sent informational email in regards how the pick-ups work. We have also printed instructions next to the cooler door in the back left hand corner of the barn. Don't forget to bring a bag! Shares will be ready after 3 today.

We do wash all your veggies, but please do wash them again before eating. There is bound to be grit, weeds, or insects that get through.

6 oz arugula
1-2 heads lettuce (size dependent) * We did find some aphids on the head lettuce while we were harvesting and did our best to wash them off, but we'd recommend rinsing the leaves again once you've cut it.
