CUTTING GARDEN — NEW THIS WEEK: There a some SUNFLOWERS growing randomly in the cutting garden, and there are some that we planted above the mum-mat near where you park. It looks like there is enough that you could all take a single one. If you do not get one this week, there will be more blooming next week.
There are also some HUSK CHERRIES that have begun ripening. You may pick a handful. Husk cherries are ripe when the paper-like covering turns yellow and the fruit within is golden. Many drop to the ground when ripe and can be scooped up.
This week you may pick SMALL (handful) bouquets of flowers, large bunches of basil, and smaller bunches of any of the other herbs. Also, you may pick several hot wax and jalapeno peppers, as well as any hot paper lanterns that have turned red.

Today's Harvest —

LAST WEEK'S SHARE KERFUFFLE:
So we were unable to figure out exactly what went wrong, but we know that someone(s) took the wrong bag(s) which set off a chain reaction that was inconvenient and confusing for several share holders and farm workers. Again, this was most likely someone picking up for someone else, so if you do arrange for someone to pick up your share, please make sure they know how to do it properly.

ABOUT MELONS: We harvest musk melons a little under-ripe. They will most likely need a day or two on your counter to ripen up. The musk melons will be ripe when the end is a little soft and the melon is fragrant. We harvest them in this way because once the melons begin changing color and smelling like melons, they are very attractive to worms and ants.
Watermelons, will not ripen on your counter. We check for watermelon ripeness by sound and color. We're usually accurate, but will sometimes be deceived. If you get a watermelon that is unripe, it will not ripen. Please let us know, and we'll be sure to get you another. Thanks for your understanding.
