*Some of the cucumbers are Boothby Blondes; they are short and pale yellow.

CUTTING GARDEN: This week you may continue to take small bunches of herbs and large bunches of any variety of basil. In addition, you may now cut small bunches of cilantro. There are more flowers blooming this week, so you may take larger bouquets (to fill a mason jar)

CUTTING GARDEN: Please continue to take small bunches of herbs and medium bouquets. You may now take larger bunches of basil of any of the three varieties. Some of the annual flowers are now blooming and can also be snipped for your bouquets.
PLANT GIVEAWAY: We have plants that you can take for free in the two largest greenhouses. Please do not take plants from areas marked with duct tape or from the smaller greenhouses.
*New potatoes are young potatoes with very thin skin. They tend to cook faster than older potatoes, and do not keep as long. There is some scab on the potatoes which scours off without having to peel.
**Some of the green peppers are cream colored. These are Antohi Romanian peppers before they turn orange.

We are currently pinching all the basil that didn't get pinched by you last week and making bunches. Some or all of you will be getting bunches of lemon basil, thai basil, or genovese basil.
*I forgot to mention last week that some of you are receiving virtus radicchio which is green and looks a bit like romaine.
**Most of the beets this week are an heirloom from Denmark called cylindra. They are cylindrical in shape rather than round. The beet greens are also edible.

The mesclun, braising mix, and arugula will have some holes in the leaves. These are from flea beetles. We use organic methods to control their population, but they can be quite persistent, and this year their population has been strong. If the appearance is too disagreeable to you, we suggest braising all three varieties which makes the holes unnoticeable.
The braising greens can be distinguished from the mesclun by the bright green leaves of Tokyo bekana.
The early summer shares tend to start out small. The share size increases over the course of the summer until the full value of your investment is met.
CUTTING GARDEN: The cutting garden is located in the middle of the field beyond the large black mat (follow the signs). You may take a small bunch of chives, and a small bunch of oregano. Don't forget to bring your snips and a container to put the herbs in. And remember, you can visit the cutting garden at any time during the week!
